Picadillo

Ingredients

2 Tablespoons olive oil

1/2 onion chopped into small pieces

1/2 red or orange pepper chopped into small pieces

6 garlic cloves minced

2 Tablespoon cilantro (or culantro)

1/4 cup sofrito

1 1/2 pound ground beef

3/4 cup tomato sauce

1 teaspoon. Kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon oregano - Optional

Procedure

1. Heat the oi in a pan.  Add the onion and allow to cook for about two minutes.  

2. Then add the pepper and garlic and cook for another minute.   Add the sofrito and salt and mix well.  

3. When it boils, add the ground beef and start breaking it apart with a meat chopper.

4. In 2 minutes time add salt and the tomato sauce and continue to stir until all the meat is chopped. 
  (This will take another 3 minutes or so).

5. Season the meat with the salt, oregano and cilantro. Lower the heat.

6. Continue to cook on  low heat for 15-20 minutes.

7. When done, taste it and add additional salt if needed.
